Calls for December 2006

On December 1st at around 15:00 hrs, the county experienced a strong freezing rain storm. All the departments were kept busy for about 2½ days straight. Hudson responded to multiple calls from trees down on wires, houses, vehicles, power lines down, house/chimney fires and medical calls.

Saturday night Dec. 16th was the annual fireman's award night and supper. Awards were given to Simon Robinson for firefighter of the year, Curtis Partridge for Rookie of the year and Chief Peter Milot for unsung hero.

Tanker 302 responded to a possible house fire backing station 8. The call turned out to be false and the engine cleared right after.

T302 was dispatched to a chimney fire backing station 8. The crew helped with fire ground operations while the driver shuttled water. The tanker was cleared by command within 2 hrs.

Monday night training was cut short when crews received a call for a car fire on Bellevue. All trucks were out of the station very quickly with full crews on each truck. Engine 202 was first to arrive and reported a Jaguar with heavy fire showing. Crews stretched a line from Engine 202 and extinguished the bulk of fire. All trucks were held on scene by Chief 101 for approximately half an hour while crews mopped up.

• Dec 7th – Fire call(Smoke in house)
E202 responded for automatic mutual-aid in 8’s district. E202 arrived first and found light smoke visible inside the house. After an investigation, it was found that a fire in the fireplace was the cause.

• Dec 8th – Fire call
All vehicles got called out to flames showing in a forest off of Wilshire. It was quickly determined that it was the same place where a burn permit had just been issued and all trucks were cleared.

At around 14:00hrs, we received a call for a structure fire backing station 13. Tanker 302 and 308 responded to the call as automatic mutual-aid. T313 arrived first and reported that the house was fully involved. T302 was second to arrive and laid 2 ½ lines to attack the fire from a defensive mode and protected the exposures. No lives were lost but one dog perished in the blaze.

E202 was dispatched to back up station 8 for a fire in the wall. The fire was extinguished in the fire place. The wall next to the fire place and the second floor wall were checked for extension. E202 was cleared by command about an hour after the call.
• Dec 24th – Fire call(Commercial storage fire)
T302 responded to a commercial storage fire in 7’s district. The crew, led by chief 101, assisted in the operations and got released by command 3 hrs later.

All vehicles responded to an mvc with one person trapped. Chief 102 arrived first and reported that the driver was still in the car while the passenger was able to get out. The vehicle was on its roof in the ditch with water and mud. E202 arrived first with medic 902 and immediately established contact with the victim. The medic was able to enter the vehicle from the rear window and stabilize the patient while the engine crew stabilized the scene. R502 arrived right after and started to extricate the patient. Station 12 was called out to the scene for manpower while E208 was dispatched to cover Hudson’s firehouse. After hard work from the crews on scene, the patient was extricated and transported to hospital by ems.

R502 responded to 7’s district for an mvc with children trapped. Chief 102 from Rigaud arrived first and reported that everybody was out of the vehicle and cleared R502.

E202, R502 and medic 902 responded for a 2 vehicle mvc. E202 arrived first and reported that the victims had only minor injuries and the 2 vehicles were stable. All trucks cleared within 30 mins.
