In early March there were multiple
heavy snow falls. The county was hit hard and all the fire departments
were kept busy with preventing roof collapses and clearing accesses
to buildings. Hudson fire received a lot of calls for public
assistance and verifications for structural integrity.

E202 responded in 8’s district
for a smell of smoke in a basement. E202’s crew took the
thermal imaging camera and verified the basement.

E202 and T302 responded to alarms
sounding. The cause of the alarm was over cooked food.

All trucks responded to verify
a house with a lot of snow on the roof. The owner had heard
a loud bang and noticed cracks on the ceiling. Crews spent about
an hour shoveling the roof and the owner was advised to have
the rest removed and inspected.

E202 and L402 were dispatched to
a 2 storey daycare for cracks on the ceiling. As a preventative
measure, all the children were evacuated to the nearby community
center. The bulk of the snow was removed by the firefighters
and the building remained closed pending a structural inspection.

Another call for excessive snow
on a roof. The building was checked and no visible signs were
noticed. 2 fire escapes were shoveled out as doors would not
open.

E202 was dispatched to a house
for concerns of the snow load on the roof and cracking sounds.
No visible signs were detected and the owner was advised to
have the snow removed.

for a snowmobile accident. The area was checked and nothing
was found.

E202 and L402 responded to an apartment
building for cracks in the plaster on the top floor. The incident
was deemed safe and a snow removal company was contacted.

cracks in the ceiling and walls of a house. This call did not
require our services.

yet another call for cracks on the ceiling. The house was evacuated
due to structural members starting to show inside the house.

senior’s residence to verify the snow load on the roof.
There was no emergency and a snow clearing crew was contacted.

M902 also got called to verify
a garage with cracks on the ceiling. The structure was deemed
unsafe to enter until all the snow was removed.

After being placed back in service,
E202 and L402 were dispatched to house with water leaking inside
from the ceiling.

E202, R502 along with E212 and
R507 responded to a 2 car MVC with 1 person trapped. The second
vehicle had 1 patient that was already out of the vehicle. R502
started to extricate the first victim by doing a roof removal
while E202 secured the scene. The patient was transferred to
ems.

E202 and L402 responded to a detached
garage for a collapse. The owner confirmed that no one was inside
prior to the collapse. The scene was secured and the utilities
were disconnected.

E202 and L402 were called to a
semi-detached house for a large amount of snow on the roof.
Upon our arrival, we found three other semi-detached houses
with the same problem.

All trucks responded to a senior’s
residence for alarms. Due to the sprinkler system’s heater
not working, the sprinkler system froze and, over time, water
activated the gong sending a signal to the alarm company.

• The alarm was set off by someone activating the pull
station in a restaurant. All ok.
